We spent the night at vger and maryn's place in Tulsa. What a generous and warm couple! Maryn cooked dinner, we listened to good music and watched an old IRC party video at amsel's. Wait....who were those two thin women formerly known as pollyanna and orianna?
ori, vger, maryn pollyanna, vger, maryn I almost forgot Lucille's! Lucille has run her gas station and grocery store since the early 1940 and this woman loves to talk! We looked through her huge book of pictures of people who have stopped, drank a diet pepsi and had her sign my touristshit coffee mug. We spent probably an hour at her place. She is marked as a Historical site! Leaving Oklahoma City.......It was hot. It was dry. It was rather bare. The wind blew across the plains (which are not flat but rather rolling hills). After a while, the scenery started looking the same. Hot. Dry. Wind blowing across the plains. When we arrived in Texola, I thought we were now in Texas. I was a little confused :) We went in search of the old jail - a one room "box" about coffin-size out in a field. It looked hot. We stopped at the little grocery along the highway. I had to take a much needed potty break. When I walked into the store, I was greeted by an old gizzered man who said, "Haay gurl." You have to get the accent right. After he winked at me, I knew we had to stay and visit - at least long enough to eat an ice cream and sip a coker. The Texas Panhandle......pretty damned exciting countryside........it was hot. It was dry. It had the wind blowing across the plains. I think we saw a tree..... Heading down the highway: Texas
